those little snouts are really POWERFUL data centers!

I’m not a scientist. I’m not a vet. I’m just a working dog mom who became deeply curious about the adorable black leathery noses that wiggle to and fro!

Why do dogs always sniff each other’s bums? What is it about the scent of another dog that makes them mark (with urine)? How can dogs find treats hidden deep out of sight? What’s so magical about smelling poop!?

On a quest to find answers, I was inspired to write A DOG’S NOSE KNOWS—a story that would be both entertaining and educational for children. In developing the book, the quality of the illustrations was as important as the words… so I must thank Jennifer Dickinson for helping me bring Dax to life!

This book is dedicated to all fur babies and their humans… but especially Reggie (white dog pictured below), Chester (black dog pictured below), and Albert Einstein.

A huge thanks also to Katherine Ayars for her help in editing this passion project and to Nicole Mlakar, a talented pet photographer in Austin (Texas), who captured the family photo below.
